Felt Making and Felt Products
Felt is an unwoven fabric which gets its property due to entanglement of fibers with each other. It is produced by matting, condensing and pressing Woolley fibers. It is made by the process called wet felting where the natural wool fibers, stimulated by friction( which is produced by vigorous rubbing of the fabric) and lubricated by moisture (usually soapy water). The heat produced from friction allows the unidirectional scales on the material to be strongly locked together. Finally, applying pressure transforms fine fabrics into felt.
